Jumanji 1995 Only seeing this for the first time, I quite enjoyed it. The effects were OK in a mid 90s way and I enjoyed the story, even though there didn't seem to be much coherency. It was nice to see Robin Williams even if he was more subdued than I expected. Simon 7
Jumanji 1995 At the time the blend of CGI and puppetry effects would have been impressive, but they haven't dated well and when you take them away, the story is rather lacking. Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst are both great though, and it's an enjoyable distraction. Mat 6

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 2017 A straightforward action-adventure movie is elevated by often hilarious performances from some of Hollywood's most engaging talent and a perfect appreciation of the absurdity of video games. A truly delightful surprise. Mat 8
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 2017 Despite some awful jokes and set pieces, Jungle is far more entertaining than it really ought to be. The update from board game to video game is handled well and doesn't insult gamers too much. Gordon 7

Jumanji: The Next Level 2019 By throwing too much at this sequel Kasdan has created a disjointed but generally amusing film that pales in comparison to its predecessor. A character less and a round of body swaps less and this could have been another gem.. Gordon 6
Jumanji: The Next Level 2019 Story-wise it's less imaginative and recycles a lot of the plot elements from its predecessor, but it's still a very enjoyable adventure movie and Kevin Hart's hilarious impersonation of Danny Glover is worth the ticket price alone. Mat 7

Summary

For a long time it looked like Jumanji would be a one hit wonder, but despite the 20+ year gap, the subsequent sequels have kept the feel of the original whilst managing to make them feel fresh, contemporary and relevant. A rare treat of a trilogy as well as being decent individual movies in their own right.
