Gordon ‘SirClive’ Sinclair is the founder of MovieMuse. A child of the 70s with his heart in the eighties, his dream is to one day wake up like Alex Drake and relive that glorious decade.
A long time classic video gamer, Gordon founded Replay Events, a company dedicated to showcasing the best retro consoles and computers of the last 40 years.
With his unhealthy love of Stallone movies and an obsessive need to watch every film ever nominated for a major award, he is aways ready with an (un?)educated opinion.
Away from MovieMuse Gordon is an avid follower of Liverpool and Huddersfield Town football clubs and lives in Halifax with his Star Wars loving fiancée Nancy.
Gordon is responsible for the MovieMuse website and co-edits the MovieMuse podcast.

---|---|---|---|---|
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted | 2012 | With a fun story and great voice performances, Madagascar 3 sees the franchise on fine form as the New Yorker animals join a European travelling circus. | 7 | |
Hope Gap | 2019 | A couple approaching their 29th anniversary are thrown into turmoil as, out of the blue, the husband declares he is leaving. Interesting and engaging for the most part, but like their relationship, it felt like there was something missing. | 6 | |
The Prestige | 2006 | An intriguing mystery that sees two rival magicians stop at nothing to outdo the other. But for a ludicrous fantastical 'magic' trick near the end and some dodgy acting from both leads it could have been great. | 7 | |
The Little Things | 2021 | A big name cast and a rather tame plot with some of the dumbest 'smart' cops, combine for a good but not great crime thriller. The score is excellent but Rami Malek comes of as a bit of a Mad Men character. | 6 | |
Animal Crackers | 2017 | Another passable but not entirely successful CGI kids movie sees a former circus performer transmogrify when eating magic animal shaped cookies and uses this power to foil his unscrupulous uncle's attempts to steal the family businesss. | 6 | |
I Care A Lot | 2020 | When an unscrupulous legal guardian picks the wrong 'helpless' old lady as her next mark, her life is turned upside down. A refreshing thriller that paints Rosamund Pike as villain, hero and victim in equal measures. | 7 | |
21 | 2008 | An entertaining account of how a team of MIT students took Las Vegas casinos for millions by card counting is entertaining, but trivialises the true story by changing the characters ethnicity and adding wild drama to give the story a more thrilling edge. | 6 | |
Man on Fire | 2004 | Denzel Washington channels his inner Rambo as a bodyguard looking to avenge the kidnapping of a young child in his care. Am quite surprised this wasn't the start of a franchise. | 7 | |
Poppy Shakespeare | 2008 | An odd little film about a day patient at a north London psychiatric hospital and how her life is changed when a glamorous new patient is admitted. Well acted, but does get a little disjointed as it goes on. | 6 | |
Quiz Show | 1994 | Robert Redford directs a boring film about an incredibly dull 'scandal', when a government lawyer uncovers match fixing in a TV game show. Ralph Fiennes insipid character only exacerbates the tedium. | 5 | |
Baby Done | 2020 | Another fine reminder that New Zealand makes the best quirky comedy on the planet. Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter gets a rough ride when his girlfriend gets pregnant but refuses to accept it. | 7 | |
Flora & Ulysses | 2021 | A fun family film that comes across like an Americanised (and squirrelised) version of Peter Rabbit. Disney manage to introduce a child actor full of character without them becoming obnoxious and a silly animated sidekick that isn't too in-your-face. | 7 | |
Casino Royale (Climax! TV movie) | 1954 | This TV movie is the first on screen appearance of 007, but this time he is the American spy Jimmy Bond! A fairly simple telling of the story but for a great performance from Peter Lorre as bad guy Le Chiffre. | 6 | |
Schemers | 2019 | The entertaining 'based on a true story' tale of how a young Dundee lad went from college dropout to big time concert promoter through a series of schemes, dodgy deals and adventures. | 7 | |
Ratatouille | 2007 | An odd choice to have a rat lead film about cooking, but Pixar pull it off yet again. The action and set-pieces are superbly done and the humour spot on to create another delightful tale, albeit a strange one about a rodent chef. | 7 | |
Up | 2009 | Another truly delightful tale from the masters of emotional animation. Whilst it is a film of 2 halves (and the 1st outshines the 2nd), the overarching story is superbly realised as a grumpy old man learns to live after grief. | 8 | |
Chaplin | 1992 | An unforgivably long film that doesn't give anywhere near enough insight and is held together by a poorly constructed reminiscence. A wasted opportunity and ripe for another attempt. RDJ plays it well however. | 6 | |
The Kid Detective | 2020 | An interesting and playful spin on the classic noir as a washed up former child detective prodigy who never achieved his potential is thrown into his biggest case yet - murder! | 7 | |
Blindspotting | 2018 | A hard hitting film that manages not to preach as a young black man tries to see out his probation in a poor, volatile and racist town. A social commentary on modern America that deserves a very wide audience. | 8 | |
Nomadland | 2020 | This quasi-documentary on the modern-day American nomad life is emotional and interesting with a great central performance, but it is hard to see why it has scored so many awards wins. | 7 | |
The Father | 2021 | By far the best ever portrayal of dementia put to film as Anthony Hopkins refuses help from his daughter despite his world becoming more and more confused. Incredibly well directed to the point where you become as befuddled as the old man. | 9 | |
Creation Stories | 2021 | The story of Creation records and its founder has an interesting first half, but the film then degenerates into a tiresome collection of anecdotes with little to no insight into Magee, the label or the bands involved. | 5 | |
Wonder Park | 2019 | Another fairly generic but also quite enjoyable family animation that advocates dreaming big and never giving up. The characters are fun, but forgettable and it probably won't stand multiple viewings, but it is good for what it is. | 6 | |
Duck Duck Goose | 2018 | An amusing family adventure that see a lone-wolf goose learn the value of family when he is forced to look after two precocious ducklings. Some parents may take offence at some of the toilet humour however. | 6 | |
Promising Young Woman | 2020 | A young woman seeks revenge against men for the traumatising effects of her past. Takes a few turns you probably won't expect and delivers a punch to the face for institutional misogyny. | 8 |
