MovieViews

The MovieMuse Reviews (MovieViews) database is a searchable collection of films that the team have watched, providing a comprehensive guide on what to watch and what to avoid. It provides a link to an in-depth review or a short opinion on the film and a rating, as well as a link to the film’s poster or DVD cover. For more recent entries we are also including a link to the film’s IMDb page and a trailer from YouTube.

You can search and sort the list by individual film names, genre, reviewer, score and other variables to inform you on whether a film is worth your time, or to inspire you for your next movie night.

We will also use the database to create periodic lists of the recommended films in all sorts of categories. These lists will be shared on the website and some will even come with a video.

Money Monster 2016 5, 7, 20 A opcorn thriller that is an enjoyable tale and a damning indictment of greed. 7
Moonwalkers 2015 4 Rupert Grint is likeable as a grown up Ron Weasley and the story is an interesting idea. But the film is nowhere near as funny or clever as it thinks it is. 4
Morgan 2016 11, 13, 17 Adds nothing to the AI genre, but is exciting and dark enough to holds its own. Kate Mara is excellent. 7
Mortal Kombat 1995 Action, 1, 9 Fun and faithful, but let down by a shocking script and some terrible acting. 5
Myra Breckinridge 1970 4 Everything in the book that shocked is watered down (except the single 'Myra rides Rusty' scene). leaving a very tame film by today's standards. 3
Neon Demon 2016 7, 11, 20 For a film that contains lesbian necrophilia and someone coughing up an eyeball, the film is surprisingly subtle and restrained. A striking study of how beauty corrupts. 8
Nina 2016 3, 7, 12 Awful script, poor acting/singing and some awful prosthetics put front and centre. Serves only to damn the memory of a troubled genius. 4
No Country for Old Men 2007 5, 7, 20 Fizzles out towards the end, but has enough tension to keep you interested throughout. The showering of awards is a little surprising though. 7
No Escape 2015 Action, 20 Owen Wilson is convncing as the out of his depth father trying to protect his family in a very good 'get from A to B via hell' thriller. 8
No Way Out 1987 Action, 5 If it wasn't for the twist the film would be no more than a generic thriller. 6
Nocturnal Animals 2016 7, 20 Stylish and clever paralleling of relationship drama and murder thriller stories. 8
Noobz 2012 4 The worst kind of bandwagon jumping tripe led by big name actor lookalikes. 2
November Man 2014 Action, 5, 20 Action, suspense and a great performance from Pierce Brosnan, but nothing new. 7
Once 2007 7, 12, 16 Gloriously beautiful tale told with completely believable characters. 8
100 Streets 2016 7 Interesting but overly sentimental tale of London lives. 6
Our Kind of Traitor 2016 5, 20 The only shock in the film was that there were no shocks. An acceptable film, but ads nothing to the genre. 6
Over the Top 1987 Action, 8, 19 The 80s in a nutshell. The Rocky formula turned into family fun with a great Moroder-esque soundtrack. 7
Paper Man 2009 4, 7 A lovely tale of loneliness with fantastic performances from all 4 of its stars. 8
Party Party 1983 4 Click to see our Film Club review. 4
Pete's Dragon 2016 1, 8, 9 Perfectly acceptable, but absolutely average. 5
Presumed Innocent 1990 13, 20 Some great acting and a really well delivered twist create another hit for Harrison Ford 8
Primer 2004 7, 17, 20 A little too clever for its own good and a lack of real tension or threat, but there is enough to keep your head scratching for some time after the film has completed. 7
Raiders of the Lost Ark 1981 Action, 1 Click to see our Box Set review. 8
Ratchet & Clank 2016 1, 2, 8, 17 The visuals are no better than the ingame cutscenes and script has little to offer either. You are better off just playing the first Ratchet game (or the PS4 remake). 5
Re-Animator 1985 11 Click to see our Film Club review. 3.4
